The Good Guys List

This will be a very short list, I'm sure.  Once in a while, you find a company that is honest and does a good job.  In this day and age, that's worth sharing.  These links are mostly from my personal experience; but could be from the experience of a trusted friend.  In any case, you have a better chance dealing with them than doing a shot in the dark.  So have at it.

By the way, if you find out I'm wrong, PLEASE send me an email and tell me about it.

Just in case you're wondering, I don't get anything out of this.  I know that some websites get a commission for anyone they refer.  These people don't even know they're on this list.

THE FIRST THING TO DO:  We always wait until "after".  Why not do this first:

Better Business Bureau
It's just a click away.  It may save you a lot of trouble.  Remember that, just because you're not listed with the BBB, doesn't mean you're bad.  If you've been in business for a number of years, and they don't know about you, that's probably a good thing.  There are two ways they can find out about you: from a complaint, or you contacted them and wanted to join.

Mayberry's
Don Mayberry has been in business a long time.  Several of my friends have bought from them and have found them  friendly, fast, and efficient.  I bought a Honda generator and was quite pleased with their service.  They sell all sorts of power equipment.  Good prices and no freight charges.

RV Parts Outlet
I was at their store in 1992 and got treated very nicely with knowledgeable people. A visitor to the website just reminded me of them and recommended them.

RV Add Ons     BEWARE
I've received a couple of serious complaints on this outfit.  My second experience with them did not turn out very well.  There was a complaint from a reader in July of 2005.  I was able to resolve that; however, I just received another very serious complaint.  Read more at: http://rvaddonscomplaint.com  Also, if you have had problems with them, you might fill in the form on that website and help others.  The URL has been left here so you'll know where not to go.  Also, check the BBB.  I am not anybody's agent here; but I certainly don't want to refer anybody that is of questionable reputation.  That's all.

Part Solver
They sell parts for just about anything in your house.  It says on their website that they ship within 4-6 days.  I ordered a part for the microwave on Tuesday and it was here Wednesday.  The website is well laid out.  You enter a model number or a part number and "voila" you're there - in most cases.
UPDATE: 7-10-08  Ordered a part and,  with the help of the order taker, we chose the wrong part.  When it arrived, I called them.  No question whatsoever, they took full responsibility and paid the freight for the return.  It doesn't get any better than that.

East County Alignment and Brake
Santee, CA:  These guys are absolutely fantastic!  They are honest, knowledgeable, and have fair prices.  It's pretty hard to find that combination anywhere.  I had considerable work done on my 30-foot motorhome - including king pins.  I can't say enough good things about them.  I would drive a long way to have them work on my motorhome instead of any other outfit.

Sportsman's Guide
These guys sell stuff for your house, car, boat, RV, camping, hunting, and a bunch more.  They're in Minniasota and they're fair and honest.  I'll vouch for that!  Beware, they will pester you with junk mail both snail and electronic.
UPDATE:  I called them on the phone and made a fuss about the catalogues they kept sending.  They apologized and said they would take me off the list.  It is 10 months later and I haven't received a thing.  As stated above, they are fair and honest!

Metric Specialties
They sell almost every metric fastener on earth. They are personal friends of mine and have been doing it for a long time. Even if you don't see it - they'll still get it for you.

Do you have something to add to the list?  Send me an email and tell me about it.
